Constitution Day 2022: Speech Ideas, Posters, Maps and Other Details on Samvidhan Divas
Constitution Day or Samvidhan Diwas is celebrated every year on November 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India, which came into force on January 26, 1950.
As per Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on November 19, 2015, Government of India has decided to celebrate 26th November every year as ‘Constitution Day’ to promote constitutional values among citizens.
As India’s first Law Minister under the Congress-led central government, Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was appointed as the Chairman of the Constitution-Making Committee in 1947 and given the task of drafting the Constitution.
In the words of American historian Granville Seward Austin, Ambedkar’s Constitution was ‘first and foremost a social document’.
In its original form, the Constitution of India consisted of 395 articles in 22 parts and 8 schedules, and contained approximately 145,000 words, making it the longest national constitution ever adopted. Now, there are 470 articles in 25 parts and 12 tables with five appendices.
Best wishes to our citizens on Constitution Day.
