SRINAGAR: Terrorists opened fire on a police patrol party and injured a constable in Nowhatta, Srinagar, while a group of 3-4 terrorists hiding in the jungle was reported to have opened fire after being surrounded by security forces. Police said constable Sarfaraz Ahmed of Batote in Ramban was injured in the attack. His condition is said to be stable.
Sources said a Pakistani and two other Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were hiding in the congested area and they fled after attacking the patrol. Later during a search operation his getaway scooter, one AK-47 rifle and two grenades were seized.
The police said they could not go very far and would be apprehended soon.

Sources said these could be terrorists who had entered from Pakistan after a fidayeen-style attack on an army camp in Rajouri on August 11, in which four soldiers were killed. Two attackers were also killed.
