Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022: The Election Commission (EC) sounded the alarm on Thursday in Gujarat, the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. The Commission has announced the dates for the assembly polls which will be held in two phases. The first phase of the election will be held on December 1, the second phase of the election will be held on December 5, and the results will be announced on December 8.

Number of modules
Out of 182 assembly constituencies in Gujarat, 13 are reserved for SCs and 27 for STs. Central Gujarat (61), Saurashtra-Kutch (54), South Gujarat (35) and North Gujarat (32) have the most seats. In the last polls, the BJP fared well in South and Central Gujarat, while the Congress gained ground in the other two regions.
Elections and Polling Stations
The total number of voters in the electoral roll is 4,91,17,308. Of these, 4,90,89,765 are general voters and 27,943 are service voters. The commission will set up 51,782 polling booths this time, an increase of 3.29 percent over the previous 2017 elections.
Documents Required at Polling Station
For voter identification at the polling booths, the voter will have to present their electoral photo ID card or any other I-card approved by the Election Commission – along with photo voter slips. Voters can carry Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Driving License, MNREGA Employment Card, Bank and Post Office Passbooks, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Smart Card issued by National Registrar General.
