House of the Dragon Episode 7: The Battle of the Kiddos
High House of the Dragon viewers mourned that Millie Alcock is no longer playing the role of young Princess Rainera, sadder than the three characters in Westeros who left us as they entered. Laena Valerian, Ser Harvin Strong, and her father, Lionel, were all killed in fiery deaths before I could even register them as significant enough characters to predict my chances of survival.
In Episode Seven, almost the entire cast is present at Driftmark for Lana’s funeral. The gathering includes Rainera, Lenore, their two eldest sons, Damon, their two daughters, Corliss, Raines, Ser Waymond, Ser Kristen Cole, King Viserys, their three children with Queen Alicente, and Otto Hightower, who is once again has been made. King’s hand Damon, the little devil he is, laughs during Waymond’s praises. Vaemond talks about how strong House Valerian is, hoping its blood will never get thinner. Since three out of five Valerian children are not technically Valerians in any way, Damon found the sentiment quite amusing. Rainera’s firstborn son, Jakeris, later tells his mother that he must be in Harrenhaal to mourn the death of Ser Harwin Strong – meaning he knows who his real father is. Rainera removes her to comfort her cousins, Bela and Raina. Raina? So now we have a Rainera, a Rainis and a Raina. Oops. Damon even naming one of his daughters “Raina” is one of the strangest ways to show his affection for his niece.
