Anant Ambani has been a director of JPL or Jio Platforms for over two years and was recently confirmed as a director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL).
Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani, was on Monday named as the head of the group’s energy business.
Anant’s appointment comes as part of father Mukesh’s effort to transfer the reign of his veteran to the younger generation. He has been a director of JPL or Jio Platforms for over two years and was recently confirmed as the director of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd (RRVL).
Ambani also transferred the leadership of Reliance’s retail arm to his daughter Isha. However, he also said that he has no plans to retire at this time and that he will “continue to provide practical leadership as before”. “Akash and Isha have held leadership roles at Jio and Retail respectively. They have been passionately involved in our consumer businesses from the very beginning.”
Reliance is classified into three broad businesses – oil refining and petrochemical, retail and digital services including telecommunications.
Ambani further said, “Anant is also associated with our new energy business with great enthusiasm. In fact, he is spending most of his time in Jamnagar.”
The 65-year-old tycoon hinted at a direct transfer of funds in succession planning after his younger brother and he engaged in a contentious succession battle after his father died without a will in 2002.
