Nadaprabu Kempegowda Statue 108 Feet Location, Kempegowda Statue Price: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the statue of Nadaprabu Kempegowda, the founder of Bangalore city.
Prime Minister Modi also flagged off South India’s first ‘Vande Bharat Express’ train between Mysuru and Chennai via Bengaluru. He will attend a public function and address a mass meeting on the day.

The statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda is 108 feet. According to the ‘Book of World Records’, it is the “first and tallest bronze statue of the founder of a city”.

Kempegowda, a feudal ruler under the earlier Vijayanagara Empire, founded Bangalore in 1537.
He is especially revered by the Vokkalika community, which dominates old Mysuru and other parts of southern Karnataka.
The statue weighs 220 tons and the sword weighs 4 tons.
The statue was designed by renowned sculptor and Padma Bhushan awardee Ram Vanji Sudhar. Sudar built the ‘Statue of Unity’ in Gujarat and the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Vidhana Souda, Bangalore.
The project, apart from the statue, has a 23-acre heritage theme park dedicated to the 16th-century leader, which will cost the government around ₹84 crore.
Ahead of the unveiling ceremony, ‘mruthike’ (holy mud) collected from over 22,000 locations across the state was symbolically mixed with the soil beneath one of the statue’s four towers today.
Twenty-one special vehicles collected the holy mud in the last two weeks, including villages, towns and cities.
