The incident took place around 3 pm, following which rescue teams were hastened to the spot and a high alert was issued by the authorities in the area. No person has been injuredthe officials at the site later confirmed.
Earlier, on July 8, 15 pilgrims were killed in a major cloudburst in the area. An ex-gratia of Rs 12 lakh was paid to the kin of the deceased pilgrim.
The Amarnath Yatra commenced on June 30 this year and is scheduled to end on August 11.
Meanwhile , the minister of state for Home affairs informed the Parliament that 15 persons lost their lives due to flash flood incident which took place near the holy cave shrine of Amarnath, while a total of 42 pilgrims died due to natural causes till July 19.
He added that the yatris were immediately evacuated to safer places and provided with accommodation and food, while the injured yatris were taken to the nearest medical facilities.
