Sri Ganganagar SP Anand Sharma said that during interrogation, Rizwan said that he had come to India with a plan to kill Nupur Sharma for insulting Prophet Mohammad.
The SP said that the accused has been actively associated with Tehreek-e-Labbaik.
“This group had taken out a protest march in the village against the statement of the accused a month ago. Nupur SharmaSP said.
He had attended a religious gathering in Pakistan and inspired there he planned to kill the suspended BJP leader.
On entering India after crossing the border, he was caught by the BSF at Hindumalkot. Two knives, religious books, food and clothes were recovered from a bag from him.
An FIR has been registered against the accused under sections of the Foreigners Act, Indian Passport Act and Arms Act.
