New Delhi: Three more Rajya Sabha MPs-Aam Aadmi Party Sushil Kumar Gupta And Sandeep Kumar Pathak And Independent MP Ajit Kumar Bhuyan was suspended for the rest of the week for disrupting the proceedings of the House immediately after the commencement of the proceedings on Thursday. This . takes the total number of Opposition MP suspended This week in the Upper House 23. Four Lok Sabha MPs were also suspended earlier this week.
The suspension came on a day when both the Houses could not function and the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were being disrupted time and again and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s protest against the BJP calling President Draupadi Murmu as the ‘President’ of the House. The proceedings were adjourned for the day. The issue also affected the Rajya Sabha where the opposition raised the suspension of MPs besides demanding a discussion on the price hike and the Gujarat liquor tragedy.
Moving a motion for the suspension of the three members in the Rajya Sabha, V Muraleedharan, junior minister for parliamentary affairs, said they “entered the well of the House, raised slogans and displayed placards, completely disrupting the proceedings of the House.” The motion was accepted by voice vote.
The Rajya Sabha could not conduct any legislative business, with the chair repeatedly asking three suspended MPs to withdraw from the house. But due to his refusal to leave the house, the house had to be adjourned for the day.
