A good vacuum cleaner is a valuable tool to have at home and while there are plenty of affordable options, they are often heavy, difficult to handle ergonomically, or not powerful enough to do a great job. Fortunately for those with higher budgets, the premium segment is on the rise, with recent launches from brands like Samsung and Philips giving tough competition to Dyson, which has been one of the top players in the cordless vacuum cleaner space around the world.
Samsung recently launched its jet series Premium cordless vacuum cleaner priced at Rs. 32,500 onwards in India. The product I am reviewing here is Rs. 49,990 Jet 90 Complete, the most advanced and powerful product in the range. going up against the competition which includes Find Dyson V12 SlimIs Samsung Jet 90 Complete the best premium cordless vacuum cleaner you can buy in India right now? Find out in this review.
Samsung Jet 90 Complete Design and Uses
While competing products tend to be slightly larger, colourful, and inconspicuous in appearance, Samsung has taken a more sophisticated and muted approach to the design of the Jet 90 Complete vacuum cleaner. Available in only one Silver color option, the Jet 90 uses a cyclone-based suction system consisting of nine cyclones that generate suction power for the vacuum function.
Interestingly, the entire Cyclone system and air filter are housed within a 0.8L dustbin and can be removed and rinsed with water to keep the Samsung Jet 90 clean. The motor and its air vents sit right behind the trash can, and the suction inlet is at the bottom of the dustbin. This arrangement creates a somewhat different and awkward path for airflow, but it doesn’t in any way impede the Jet 90’s capabilities. The air filter is claimed to be able to capture up to 99.999 percent of dust particles and allergens 0.5 microns or more.
The handle for the Samsung Jet 90 Complete is on the back, but the weight of the device is balanced away from the handle and makes the vacuum cleaner feel a bit heavy in the hand, especially when cleaning upper surfaces. With the pipe and floor sweeper ends it makes it a little easier to hold as the head rests on the ground and the handle takes a bit of weight off it, but it still feels a little cumbersome. This meant that conducting long cleaning sessions became a bit uncomfortable.
Below that is the slot for the battery, which clips into place and can be released as easily thanks to a quick-release button. Only one battery is included with the Samsung Jet 90 Complete, but you can purchase a spare battery for extended run time if needed. Usefully, the charging station can charge a second battery simultaneously, and as mentioned, swapping batteries is easy and quick.
On top of the handle are the controls for the Samsung Jet 90 Complete Vacuum Cleaner. It includes a power button and two buttons for adjusting suction power, along with a small set of illuminated indicators like Active Power Mode and other alerts such as a roller head blockage or when the air filter needs to be replaced. There are three power modes, and the fourth is the ‘wait’ mode; The latter requires a wet-mopping fitting, which is not included or officially available for purchase with the Jet 90 Complete in India.
Cleaning the dustbin on the Samsung Jet 90 Complete is a bit more complicated than on competing products, as even emptying it requires fully disassembling and unlocking the vacuum cleaner. This took a little longer than necessary, and I usually waited until the bin was nearly full before emptying, given the effort involved. However, it allows for a more thorough cleaning of both the vacuum cleaner’s dustbin and the cyclone generating device, both of which can be rinsed with water as needed.
Samsung Jet 90 Complete Fittings & Accessories
While competing cordless vacuum cleaners come with simple charging adapters and plugs, or a wall-mounted dock, the Samsung Jet 90 Complete goes a step further and includes the impressive ‘Z Station’ charging stand. This is a complex device designed to make charging and storing the Jet 90 vacuum cleaner and its fittings much easier. As mentioned, you can charge the primary battery attached to the vacuum cleaner as well as the second battery.
The Z Station’s base is heavy enough to keep the Samsung Jet 90 Complete stable when it’s docked, and it has a slot for charging a second battery. The adapter and power cable connect to the base. If for some reason you don’t want to set up the charger in its tower form, you can remove the battery with a vacuum cleaner and charge it at the base itself. The main stand charges as soon as the vacuum cleaner is placed, and there are sockets to clip onto smaller fittings for easy access.
Samsung Jet 90 Complete Vacuum Cleaner with Turbo Action Brush for Stubborn Stains on Floors, Soft Action Brush for Routine Floor Cleaning, Mini Motorized Tool for Top Surfaces, Combination and Crack Tool for Specific Cleaning Needs, and a Flexible Tool Are included. Angling fittings for hard to reach places.
The last three fittings are motorized, and draw power for the spinning brushes from the vacuum cleaner itself. The soft action brush and turbo action brush can also be opened easily for cleaning.
There is also a telescopic adjustable extension pipe, with four possible length points ranging from 930 mm to 1,140 mm. This helps set a comfortable length for floor cleaning, easily scales to height, and stores the device conveniently when not in use. The shortest length extends to the floor when the Jet 90’s Z station is docked, so you can keep one of the pipes and fittings securely attached, even while charging.
Samsung Jet 90 full performance and battery life
The Samsung Jet 90 Complete vacuum cleaner is a lot like the competition from Dyson, with added suction power. The device has a rated peak suction power of 200W with a nine-cyclone system to generate suction, making it the most powerful vacuum cleaner in its class, and it shows up in everyday use.
Of course, suction power is not everything, and effective cleaning also requires the use of suitable cleaning heads to effectively capture dirt and dust from various surfaces. For hard floors, the soft action brush with the fluffy roller was sufficient in most situations, although I sometimes found the turbo action brush to work better, especially on carpets and when it was particularly messy.
Mini motorized tools are used for everyday cleaning on soft surfaces, and usually without extension pipes, such as on sofas or beds. Although the head has some flexibility, I found it wasn’t as effective at picking up dust and dirt on non-flat surfaces, such as cushions or gaps between knots of fabric on a sofa.
That said, all motorized heads were reliable at avoiding tangles or blockages during my time with the Samsung Jet 90 Complete. Cleaning these ends was also easy enough for the occasional grime, or tangled wire and paper scraps. The small non-motorized fittings were useful for reaching narrow gaps or cleaning hard surfaces such as table tops and counters, and worked as expected.
The ‘Mid’ power level is the default setting for the Samsung Jet 90 full vacuum cleaner, and is the operative level each time the device is turned on. It generated enough power for most of the daily cleaning tasks in my house, and it was what I usually used during my review. I sometimes had to turn the power up to ‘Max’ for stubborn cleaning tasks, especially when vacuuming on carpets and rugs.
The battery saving ‘minimum’ level might be enough for a quick floor clean, but I preferred to use the ‘middle’ level most of the time. The Samsung Jet 90 Complete could sound quite loud and crackling at maximum power level, but it didn’t sound too loud or obnoxious at ‘Mid’ or ‘Min’ levels.
The Samsung Jet 90 Complete Vacuum Cleaner has good battery life, but doesn’t quite match the price competition such as Find Dyson V12 Slim has to offer. With only the ‘Mid’ power setting in operation, I was able to use the Samsung Jet 90 Complete for about 25 minutes on a single charge when using the motorized cleaning head, while the device at the ‘Max’ setting lasted about eight minutes Used to walk , The device is claimed to last for 60 minutes with ‘Min’ power mode.
Typically, this was enough to clean almost my entire two-bedroom house in one session, or sometimes even two or three rooms comfortably with the use of ‘Max’ power mode. Battery life could have been a bit better, but it didn’t significantly affect my ability to use the Samsung Jet 90 Complete efficiently on a daily basis. It took about three hours for the vacuum cleaner to fully charge from empty.
There are plenty of affordable vacuum cleaners, but the benefits of investing in a premium cordless vacuum cleaner are substantial. The Samsung Jet 90 Complete is undoubtedly expensive as far as vacuum cleaners are concerned, but it also offers the kind of premium experience that you would expect from a top-class vacuum cleaner. With powerful suction, well-fitting fittings, and a unique and convenient Z Station charging dock, the Samsung Jet 90 Complete delivers a decent cleaning experience to a great extent.
That said, there are some minor drawbacks, including average battery life, a somewhat sly process for clearing the trash can, and a slightly cumbersome handle position. However, these issues weren’t far from my overall positive experience with the Samsung Jet 90 vacuum cleaner.
The Samsung Jet 90 Complete looks good and cleans without any nonsense, but if you’re looking for something more in terms of features, then Find Dyson V12 Slim Also worth considering for its laser dust detection system and insight on dust collection. However, while providing better suction power, the Jet 90 is significantly more economical than the Dyson vacuum cleaner.
