Teacher’s Day 2022: UGC to launch 3 research grants and 2 fellowship schemes tomorrow
On the occasion of Teachers’ Day 2022, the University Grants Commission (UGC) will launch three new research grants and two fellowship schemes tomorrow,

As per the information given by the UGC, three research grants will be started for serving teachers and faculty members. There are 100 available slots for this fellowship, and selected candidates will get Rs 50,000 per month and Rs 50,000 per year as a contingency.
Candidates must not exceed 67 years of age and must have successfully supervised the PhD dissertations of ten full-time candidates, three of whom have graduated during the last ten years. In addition, the candidate must have managed as the Principal Investigator of at least three sponsored research projects funded by national or international agencies. In addition, the candidates should not shoulder any administrative responsibility during the fellowship, which starts from the day of retirement.
The fellowship and research grant programmes of UGC commencing tomorrow are listed below.
Research grants for in-service faculty members
The goal of this fellowship is to provide research opportunities to regularly appointed faculty members, and the initiative will provide a grant of Rs 10 lakh as support to 200 selected participants.
Dr. DS Kothari Research Grant for New Recruitment
The DS Kothari Grant is a post-doctoral fellowship scheme for candidates in science, medicine, and engineering streams. This initiative will offer Rs 10 lakh in financial assistance to 132 selected candidates.
Fellowships for Retired Faculty Members
UGC has launched this scheme to provide opportunities to retired teachers actively engaged in research and teaching programmes. There are 100 seats available in this fellowship, and selected applicants will get Rs 50,000 per month in fellowship payment and Rs 50,000 per year in contingency payment.

Dr. Radhakrishnan’s UGC Post-Doctoral Fellowship
While 900 seats are available, 30 per cent of them are reserved for female candidates. As a part of the fellowship, selected candidates will get Rs 50,000 per month and Rs 50,000 per year as a contingency.

The Savitribai Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Children
There is no fixed number of slots available for fellowship. It aims to encourage single girls to continue their studies and do research that will result in a Ph.D.
