How to Write a Book Review in 3 Steps

If the idea of studying for free – or even getting paid to study – seems like a dream come true, remember that it's not.

The three main steps to writing a book review are simple:

Provide a summary: What is the story about? Who are the main characters and what is the main conflict?

Give your rating: What do you think of the book? What elements worked well and what didn't?

Give your recommendation: Would you recommend this book to others? If so, what kind of readers will enjoy it?

Give your rating Although you should personally review a book, your evaluation should not be based solely on your subjective opinion

Give your suggestion

At the end of the day, your review should answer this question: Is this a book you would (or wouldn't)

recommend to other readers? You might compare it to other books in the same genre or by authors with similar styles and conclude: "Fans of those will enjoy this book."
