Indian cricket team change: BCCI set to send SOS to MS Dhoni for bigger role with Indian T20 set-up, likely to be appointed as director of cricket: Follow Live Updates
Indian Cricket Team Change – T20 Cricket Director MS Dhoni? After multiple failures in ICC events, the Indian cricket board is about to knock on the doors of the person who wanted the world events. After the T20 World Cup debacle in Australia, BCCI is all set to send an SOS to MS Dhoni for a bigger role in the Indian T20 cricket set-up. According to BCCI sources, the team is considering inviting Dhoni for a permanent role.
According to a report by The Telegraph, the BCCI feels that the burden of managing 3 formats is too demanding for head coach Rahul Dravid. Thus, the BCCI is considering to split the coaching posts. The board is keen to involve Dhoni in the T20 format and use his talents to raise the standard of the Indian cricket team.
According to the report the issue will be discussed during the APEX COUNCIL meeting later this month.
T20 Cricket Director MS Dhoni? Dhoni worked with the team during the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, but in an interim capacity. The nearly week-long engagement failed to yield the desired results as the team was eliminated in the opening round. Even if the BCCI realises, a bigger and bigger stake will definitely help the Indian T20 system.
According to the report, Dhoni is expected to retire from the game after next year’s IPL. BCCI is keen to make the right use of his experience and technical acumen and will engage the former India captain.
The double World Cup winner may be asked to work with the special players and lead the Indian T20 team.
