Sibal takes dig at BJP over Karnataka poll result
New Delhi, May 15 (PTI) Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Monday lashed out at the BJP’s defeat in the Karnataka elections, saying the lesson of the election results is that we cannot sell the same product or repeat the same lie.
Play the communal card all the time.
In the elections held on May 10, the Congress won 135 seats out of a total of 224 seats, while the BJP and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda’s Janata
Dal (Secular) won 66 and 19 seats respectively. In her tweet, Sibal said, “Lesson from Karnataka aftermath: You cannot: sell the same product, repeat the same lies, spew venom, malign the past, associate with a corrupt government, call others corrupt, play the communal card. All the time!” Earlier on Sunday, Sibal urged the Congress to “win the hearts of the people” in the state for the next five years by being open, honest and non-discriminatory.
Sibal, who was a Union minister in UPA 1 and 2, defected from the Congress in May last year and was elected to the Rajya Sabha as an independent member with the support of the Samajwadi Party. He recently launched ‘Insaaf’, a non-electoral platform aimed at fighting injustice. PTI
