Delhi liquor scam: Manish Sisodia moves SC against his arrest, CJI to hear matter today
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the liquor policy case.
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) has agreed to hear the case at 3.50 pm today.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi mentioned before the Chief Justice Sisodia’s case against the arrest of Sisodia and the CBI’s mode of investigation in the liquor policy case.
Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on Sunday and produced before the court on Monday. He was sent to CBI custody for 5 days.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader was arrested under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 477A (intent to cheat) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Central Intelligence Agency on Sunday summoned him in connection with alleged irregularities and corruption in the formulation and implementation of the new excise policy for the national capital. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was arrested after more than eight hours of questioning after his answers were not satisfactory, officials said.
