The BJP on Tuesday criticized Rahul Gandhi for his criticism of democracy in India and the RSS formation from Britain, saying it clearly believes that he is fully in the grip of the Maoist thought process through his allies and more “anarchist elements”.

Addressing a press conference, former Union minister and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said his party did not accept Gandhi’s “misuse of the forum of the British Parliament to spread brazen lies and baseless claims” and said a “proper rebuttal” was needed.

He accused the Congress leader of humiliating India’s democracy, politics, parliament, judiciary and strategic security from foreign soil.

Gandhi told British MPs in London on Monday that the working microphones in the Lok Sabha were often silenced against opposition parties.

Opposition parties in India are often not allowed to discuss issues in Parliament, said senior Indian-origin opposition Labor MP Virendra Sharma at an event organized on the premises of the House of Commons.

Prasad said Gandhi had forgotten all parliamentary norms, political right and “democratic shame” by criticizing Indians from abroad.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader accused Gandhi of favoring European and American intervention in India and said he went against the consensus in India against interference in its internal affairs by foreign powers.

Prasad sought reactions from Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and his predecessor Sonia Gandhi on Rahul Gandhi’s “absolutely irresponsible” statements and whether the opposition rejected them or not.

BJP president Rahul Gandhi slammed the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) for condemning it and said the Hindutva organization was serving the society and the nation.
