Babar Azam’s one-line Tweet amid ‘sexting’ accusation, leaked intimate chats and videos storm the internet
There has been no official comment from Babar Azam or the Pakistan Cricket Board on the leaked private chats, videos and ‘sexting’ allegation, but the talismanic right-hander has not been hit by the social media storm.
Pakistan captain and one of the current best batsmen in world cricket, Babar Azam, is going through a tough phase both on and off the field. To be fair, there wasn’t much wrong with his batting. He scored two fifties in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand and scored 161 runs in the two-Test series. But it is Pakistan’s performance that has affected his eligibility. Pakistan lost the ODI series against New Zealand 1-2. The Test results didn’t go well either as they couldn’t come out with a draw. This came after they were comprehensively beaten in a historic Test series against England at home. In the last three Test series Pakistan have played at home under Babar Azam against Australia, England and New Zealand, they have not won one and lost two.
Amidst all this, Babar Azam’s intimate chats and videos with a girl were leaked online. Babar was accused of ‘sexting’ with the girlfriend of another Pakistani cricketer and promised her boyfriend a place in the Pakistan side if she continued chatting. The credibility of the claims is debatable but the leaked screenshots caused a stir on social media. Many believed that the chat, videos and audio files were genuine, while others believed that it was nothing more than an attempt to defame Babar Azam.
