Bengaluru, March 29: The ruling BJP will return to power in Karnataka with an absolute majority, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Wednesday.
The Election Commission today announced that the election to the 224-member assembly will be held on May 10.
Speaking to reporters, Bommai said that in the last three-and-a-half months, I have toured all the constituencies in the state. “I am fully confident that we will get a definite and unequivocal majority and that the BJP government will come (back) to power in 2023,” he said.
Talking about how the party is connecting with the public, the Chief Minister said that the BJP is reaching out to people through various channels including digital technology and campaigning by party leaders.
To the question about the candidates who are likely to contest the election, Bommai said that the process of publishing the list of candidates will begin after the announcement of the election date in the BJP.
“Already we have the poll reports (of possible candidates). Along with that, we will collect the opinions of people and party workers at the district, taluk level, which will be consolidated at the state level.
