Britain is suffering from food shortages and supply chain disruptions are making it difficult to get supplies.
Britain’s third-biggest grocer Asda on Tuesday introduced a temporary three-pack limit on tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, lettuce, salad bags, broccoli, cauliflower and raspberries, Reuters reported.
“Like other supermarkets, we are experiencing sourcing challenges with some products grown in southern Spain and northern Africa,” an Asda spokesman said.
Aldi has restricted peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes due to shortages. The shortage is temporary and expected to last for weeks.
Meanwhile, Morrisons will ban more than two products.
Images of empty fruit and vegetable shelves are circulating on social media.
It said severe weather in southern Europe and northern Africa had disrupted harvests of a variety of crops.
“While disruption is expected to last for a few weeks, supermarkets are adept at managing supply chain issues and working with farmers to ensure customers have access to a wide range of fresh produce,” said Andrew Opie, BRC’s director of food and sustainability. , said.
