NEW DELHI: Former Gujarat chief secretary Manjula Subramaniam passed away on Sunday at a hospital in Vadodara due to poor health, an official statement said on Monday.
New Delhi: Former Gujarat chief secretary Manjula Subramaniam died on Sunday at a hospital in Vadodara due to ill health, an official statement said on Monday.
Subramaniam, a 1972-batch IAS officer, served as the state’s first woman chief secretary. An experienced officer, he also worked in the Ministry of Commerce and the Prime Minister’s Office.
Paying tribute to Subramaniasamy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: The death of senior officer Dr. Manjula Subramaniam ji is painful. He is widely respected for his understanding of policy issues and action-oriented approach. I remember my interaction with him when I was the principal. Condolences to his family and friends. Om Shanti.”
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has condoled his demise.
“Condolences on the demise of Gujarat’s first woman Chief Secretary Dr. Manjula Subramaniamji. His contribution to the development journey of the state is commendable. I pray to God to rest his soul in peace and give strength to his relatives to bear this grief,” he tweeted.
