Lucknow Super Giants Predicted XI vs Chennai Super Kings, IPL 2023: Will Krishnappa Gowtham Remain Impact Player?
Mark Wood thrashed Delhi Capitals by five wickets as Lucknow Supergiants opened their campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL). As skipper KL Rahul continued to struggle for form, Krishnappa Gautam was also impressed as an ‘Impact Player’. As Lucknow prepares for the Chennai Super Kings Test, there may be one or two changes to the playing XI given the nature of the wicket that Chepauk can provide. In all likelihood, LSG should brace themselves for a big ‘spin test’ on Monday.
Gautam played just one ball in the match against Delhi, hitting a six before making an impact with the ball. Lucknow may include him in the starting XI against Chennai.
Against Delhi, Lucknow made 193/6 in 20 overs after being put in to bat first. Kyle Meyers (38 balls, 2 fours and 7 sixes) impressed on his IPL debut, while Nicholas Pooran (36 off 21 balls, 2 fours and 3 sixes) shone for LSG. The rest of the batters couldn’t do much.
Myers has launched a ferocious attack above the Supergiants and his performance will be vital at one wicket.
Other key batsmen for LSG will be skipper Rahul, Nicolas Pouras and Marcus Stoinis, who have come under scrutiny for their equally low score stretches in recent times.
CSK batsmen will be wary of fast bowler Mark Wood, who dashed Delhi’s hopes with his triple strike. His blistering pace could cause some problems for the home side’s strong batting unit.
Apart from that, LSG spinners Ravi Bishnoi and K Gautham will play a big role if the team hopes to keep the opposition batsmen in check.
