Ratan Tata’s younger brother Jimmy, who lives in a 2-BHK flat, does not own a mobile phone.


Tata Sons chairman emeritus Ratan Tata took to Instagram on Tuesday to reminisce about the childhood camaraderie he shared with his younger brother Jimmy Tata. The billionaire shared a black and white photo clicked in 1945 with his younger brother.
“Those were happy days. Nothing came between us. (1945 with my brother Jimmy),” Tata captioned the picture, which the businessman shared with his 7 million followers on the social media site.

Jimmy, 82, is a shareholder in Tata Sons and other Tata Group companies. He lives in a 2BHK flat in Colaba and has no mobile phone.
RPG Group Chairman Harsh Goenka introduced Jimmy to the world in a Twitter post shared on January 19, 2022.
“Did you know Ratan Tata’s younger brother Jimmy Tata is living a quiet life in a 2 bhk flat in Colaba, Mumbai! Not interested in business, he is a great squash player and beats me every time. Low profile like the Tata Group!” Goenka wrote in the viral post.

Jimmy Tata is a shareholder in Tata Sons, TCS, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Tata Chemicals, Indian Hotels and Tata Power.
Tata, a bachelor, does not own a mobile phone and rarely leaves his apartment, reports the Times of India.
A Sir Ratan Tata Trustee, Jimmy inherited the position in accordance with the will of his father, who died in 1989.
The report added that Nawabhai, wife of Sir Ratanji Tata, adopted a young Jimmy from a middle-class Parsi family after his father’s death.
Jimmy and Ratan have another sibling, Noel, born to Naval Tata and his second wife, Simone. Noel is the father-in-law of the late Cyrus Mistry; He is the MD and Chairman of Tata International, Trend.
Ratan Naval Tata recently celebrated his 85th birthday on December 28, 2022. He was born in Mumbai in 1937. Ratan was brought up by his grandmother. He did his schooling at Campion School in Mumbai and completed his secondary education at Cathedral and John Cannon School. He holds a degree in Architecture from the Cornell University Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School.
