Situation in Sudan highly volatile; our focus is to ensure safety of Indians:FS Kwatra
New Delhi, Apr 27 (PTI) Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra on Thursday said that the security situation in Sudan is very complex and very volatile and India’s efforts are to ensure the safety of Indian citizens.
In a press conference, he said that India is in touch with all parties in Sudan with a focus on evacuating Indians from conflict areas.
“Our focus is to take Indians from conflict zones to safe areas as soon as possible and then bring them home,” the foreign secretary said.
Referring to India’s evacuation mission ‘Operation Kaveri’, he said 360 Indians have been brought home and another group of 246 will arrive in India soon.
Currently, around 320 Indians are in Port Sudan and are being taken to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, he said.
