Steven Spielberg On SS Rajamouli’s RRR: “Your Movie Was Outstanding”
New Delhi: SS Rajamouli and film legend Steven Spielberg recently caught up on a Zoom call where they discussed their love for movies. The talk was organized by Reliance Entertainment, which co-produced and released Steven Spielberg’s The Fablemans in India (on February 10). During the conversation, the topic of SS Rajamouli’s RRR came up openly.
Steven Spielberg reviewed RRR and told SS Rajamouli: “I thought your movie was great… It was amazing.” He added, “I couldn’t believe my eyes – it was eye candy…a beautiful visual style, I thought it was extraordinary to see and experience it. So congrats to RRR.”
Commenting on RRR’s performance, the veteran filmmaker said: “I thought of the performances… In your film, I was happy to see how you ended Alison Doody’s story. She’s brutal and her husband (Ray Stevenson’s General Scott) had a beautiful visual style.” Alison Doody was also part of Steven Spielberg’s 1989 film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
An excited SS Rajamouli responded: “I can almost get up from my chair and dance – it means a lot to me.”
