Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Box Office Collection Day 2: Ranbir Kapoor’s film sees a dip at ₹10.34 crore
Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar took the highest opening for a rom-com in India after its release on Holi, March 8. However, despite a promising opening, Luv Ranjan didn’t make it. Following the momentum, it saw a decline of over 34 percent in its collection on its second day at the theaters. On Friday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the Day 2 figures of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar at the domestic box office. According to him, Shraddha Kapoor’s film earned ₹10.34 crore on Thursday, taking its opening day collection to ₹15.73 crore, taking the total box office collection of Tu Judi Main Makar to ₹26.07 crore in India so far. He tweeted, “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar retains grip on 2nd day… 34.27 percent decline on a working day – post holiday – inevitable… Bis (business) should start moving from Friday [evening] with Saturday and Sunday. That Extra boost… ₹15.73 crore on Wednesday, ₹10.34 crore on Thursday. Total: ₹26.07 crore India Biz.”
After its release on Holi, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaarrecorded the highest opening for a rom-com in India. It did nearly ₹50 lakh more than Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer Jab Harry Met Sejal did on its opening day. Released in 2017, the film collected ₹15.25 crore on its first day at the theatres. On Thursday, Taran Adarsh shared the first day collection of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and tweeted, “Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is doing well on day 1…Holi festivities in many states got a boost but lost substantial business. Holi is a day early. Celebrated [Mumbai; Working Day]… Wednesday: ₹15.73 crore India business.”
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar stars Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor along with Anubhav Singh Basi, Dimple Kapadia and Boney Kapoor. However, several surprise cameos made headlines. There are reports that Love Ranjan’s go-to actors Karthik Aryan and Nushrat Bharuchha have also appeared inTu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. In a recent interview with India Today, the director finally broke his silence on the alleged cameos. Luv Ranjan has confirmed that he is not aware of such reports and is not shooting with Karthik for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar
