Veera Simha Reddy Box Office Collection Day 1: Nandamuri Balakrishna’s film Vijay’s Vaarisu, Ajith’s Thadhavu get the biggest openings of 2023.
Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy has bagged around Rs 32 crore at the box office on Thursday to take the top spot on Day 1 of 2023. The Telugu film easily surpassed the opening day totals of two Tamil biggies, Vijay-starrer Varisu and Ajith-starrer Thadhavu, which could have cannibalized each other after their debut on Wednesday. But those films mostly crashed in the Tamil Nadu region; In fact, Varis was not even released first in the Telugu region, avoiding competition with Veera Simha Reddy and Chiranjeevi’s Voltaire Veeraiya, which releases today.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Veera Simha Reddy has earned around Rs 32 crore on the first day. This is Balakrishna’s first film after his 2021 release Aganda. He played dual roles in both the films. In comparison, Varusu made Rs 26.5 crore on Day 1 and Thadvu made Rs 26 crore.
As usual, visitors have many options to choose from this Pongal and Sakranti. While Tamil Nadu will see a clash between Varisu and Thadvu, the Telugu region will get its own box office clash as Chiranjeevi’s Voltaire Veeraiya takes on Veera Simha Reddy when it releases today. In 2022, thanks to the global success of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, the Telugu industry will overtake Bollywood.
The film received mixed to negative reviews from critics. Manoj Kumar R of Indian Express gave it half a star out of five and in his review said, “The most disturbing part of Balakrishna’s films is that Veera Simha Reddy argues that it is okay to kill to solve it. problem Killing someone is directly linked to one’s masculinity. If you are human enough, you will kill. If not, you will be killed.”
