Pakistan cricket has seen a lot of changes in the past few days since the humiliating Test series against England at home. Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramis Raja has been sacked from his post, while former captain Shahid Afridi has been appointed as the interim chief selector of the Pakistan men’s team. Ahead of the start of the New Zealand series at home, Pakistan captain Babar Azam has broken his silence on two major changes at the PCB.
Shortly after Pakistan’s 0-3 loss in the Test series against England, Ramis was sacked as the PCB chairman. He takes over the role from Ehsan Mani after he steps down in 2021. Najam Sethi was appointed as his interim replacement. “Ramis Raja led cricket regime is no more. 2014 PCB constitution restored,” Sethi, who previously served as PCB president, said on Twitter.
The PCB saw another big change as Afridi was announced as the interim chairman of the men’s national selection committee. Abdul Razak and Rao Iftikhar Anjum were named as other members of the committee.
