Jammu, Feb 22 (PTI) An officer conducting a magisterial inquiry into the firing incident outside an army camp in Rajouri has sought information from the public about the incident.
Kamal Kumar and Surinder Kumar, residents of Falyana, were killed and another from Uttarakhand was injured in an incident near the camp’s Alpha Gate on December 16.
The incident sparked protests from villagers, prompting the district administration to order a magisterial inquiry into the incident, with the army claiming two civilians were killed in firing by terrorists.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, Rajouri Additional District Magistrate Sachin Dev Singh, who has been appointed as the investigating officer to find out the cause of the shooting, has sought information from the public about the incident within a week.
“Public, mediapersons or other persons of Palyana village having information and willing to share inputs in written / oral or any other form may share the same within a period of one week for completion of investigation by the investigating officer,” reads the public notice.
“Entries can be shared on Mob via phone or WhatsApp. No. 9596510500” mentioned in the notice.
A fortnight after the firing outside the camp, terrorists attacked Tangri village in Rajouri town on January 1, killing seven civilians and injuring 14 others.
While five people were killed in firing by terrorists in the village, two children were killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) left behind by the attackers exploded the next day.
The terrorists are still absconding despite a joint search operation by the police and other security forces in the district. PTI TAS RHL
