New Delhi: Bharti-backed OneWeb today plans to launch 36 satellites in partnership with the Indian Space Research Organization or ISRO.
Last month, OneWeb executive chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said the company would be ready to offer services in India by July-August.
Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite communications company OneWeb aims to launch 36 satellites with ISRO by March 26, 2023.
“The launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota will be OneWeb’s 18th launch to date and third this year, completing its first-generation LEO suite and enabling the company to begin global coverage in 2023,” OneWeb said. In a statement.
The launch will be one of the most important milestones in OneWeb’s history, the company said, adding 36 satellites to the OneWeb fleet and completing the first global LEO constellation.
“This mission marks OneWeb’s second satellite deployment from India, highlighting the collaboration between the UK and Indian space industries. Across India, OneWeb will bring secure solutions not only to companies, but also to cities, villages, municipalities and schools. – Reach regions across the country,” the statement said.
The launch will be conducted by ISRO’s commercial arm, NSIL.
