Land-for-jobs-scam: CBI searches 9 locations in Bihar linked to RJD leaders Kiran Devi, Arun Yadav
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday probed nine locations in Bihar’s Patna and Arrah in connection with a land scam linked to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders Kiran Devi and Arun Yadav. Currently, other CBI teams are also conducting raids in Noida, Delhi, Gurugram and Rewari in connection with a person named Prem Chand Gupta.
In May last year, the CBI registered a fresh corruption case against former railway minister Lalu Prasad and his family. 16 people including Lalu, his wife Rabri Devi, daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav have been accused in this case. According to the central agency, at least eight people were given Group D jobs in railways in lieu of lands when Lalu was railway minister in the UPA-1 government of the Union government (2004-09). Lalu and his family reportedly bought 1 lakh square feet of land for Rs 26 lakh, which then had a total market value of Rs 4.39 crore.
The CBI has already interrogated Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi and their son and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav. The special court, which has already filed the chargesheet in the case, issued summons to the accused including Lalu and his family on March 15.
In the investigation, some new facts came out and based on the new facts, teams are conducting investigations to get new evidence.
