Delhi-NCR region on December 6: Investigators probing the Delhi blast near the iconic Red Fort have revealed a horrifying plot by a suspected Jaish-e-Mohammed-linked module. The group, shockingly composed of doctors and educated professionals, had planned six coordinated bombings across the Delhi-NCR region on December 6, a date chosen to mark the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary.
Sources within India’s intelligence community said the group referred to themselves as a “doctor module”, using their professional backgrounds to avoid detection. The investigation has exposed their five-phase strategy, a meticulous plan that could have resulted in one of the deadliest attacks in recent years.
Five-Phase Plan for Serial Bombings
According to officials, the plan was structured as follows:

Formation of the module: Establishing a new terror cell connected with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

Procurement of materials: Securing ammunition and raw materials to assemble improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Much of it was sourced from Nuh and Gurugram in Haryana.

Manufacture and reconnaissance: Creating chemical-based IEDs and conducting target surveillance in busy Delhi areas.

Distribution: Dividing the explosive devices among members for execution.

Execution phase: Coordinated serial blasts at six to seven high-density locations across Delhi and NCR.
December 6 – A Date Chosen for Revenge
Officials confirmed that the module deliberately picked December 6, the day in 1992 when the Babri Masjid was demolished in Ayodhya. The suspects confessed that they wanted to “avenge the Babri Masjid demolition”.
Over the years, Jaish-e-Mohammed’s chief Masood Azhar has frequently issued calls for revenge, and intelligence reports show renewed propaganda targeting Ayodhya and northern India.
The 16th-century mosque, built at the believed birthplace of Lord Ram, was demolished in 1992. The Supreme Court later permitted construction of the Ram Temple, which was completed this year — making the timing even more symbolic for extremist groups.
Blast Near Red Fort Exposes the Plot
The investigation began after a car explosion near the Red Fort Metro station left nine people dead and more than 20 injured. The car, driven by Dr Umar Mohammed, exploded after his close associates were arrested.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) found that Umar panicked and triggered the blast prematurely. The explosion exposed a network of radicalized professionals, all working silently to create chemical IEDs capable of mass destruction.
Faridabad Raids: 2,900 Kg Explosives Seized
Subsequent raids in Faridabad uncovered a stockpile of 2,900 kg of explosive materials, including ammonium nitrate, detonators, and lab chemicals. Investigators believe these materials were enough to trigger multiple large-scale explosions across Delhi and nearby cities.
Two other doctors, Muzammil Sheikh and Shaheen Saeed, were arrested for their involvement. Both were associated with Al Falah University, raising concerns about terror infiltration in educational institutions.
A “White-Collar” Terror Network
Officials described the group as a “white-collar terror cell” — educated individuals using their medical knowledge and access to resources to carry out violent operations.
An officer said, “This module represents a new kind of threat — educated extremists with technical expertise and organizational discipline.”
Security agencies have tightened surveillance around Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, and Gurugram, especially near metro stations, markets, and government buildings.
Nationwide Alert and Ongoing Investigation
The NIA and Delhi Police Special Cell are working together to trace foreign funding routes, encrypted communications, and possible links to Pakistan-based handlers. Additional suspects are being questioned in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Authorities have increased security across religious and public sites ahead of December 6, and the Home Ministry has ordered a full review of intelligence sharing and preventive operations.
Public Appeal for Vigilance
Officials have urged citizens to remain calm but alert, reporting any suspicious activity immediately. The government has promised compensation to victims and pledged that no conspirator will escape justice.
