Actor Aamir Khan took a break from films and went on a personal trip to Nepal. According to news agency PTI, Mr Khan arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday morning where he will attend a 10-day Vipassana meditation program. Aamir Khan was last seen in August 2022 release ‘Lal Singh Chaddha‘. Photographs of Mr Khan in Kathmandu have been circulating widely on social media, showing him posing with locals and interacting with children. Officials also confirmed the actor’s trip to Nepal.

Rup Jyoti, an official at a Vipassana center in Nepal, told news agency ANI on Sunday, “Yes he has come to practice Vipassana meditation. He is already booked for the first session today.”

The actor will be attending a meditation center located in Budhanilkantha, 12 kilometers from Kathmandu, news agency PTI reported.

Aamir Khan last visited Nepal in 2014 to attend a UNICEF event in Kathmandu.

Mr Khan had announced his retirement from acting after the release of ‘Lal Singh Chaddha‘. In a media interaction in November last year, the actor said that he was taking a break for the first time in his 35-year career.

“I’ve been working for 35 years and I’m single-mindedly focused on my work. I feel it’s not fair to those who are close to me. I think I need to take some time off at this time. Be with them and really experience life in a different way. Next year and a half when I’m not working as an actor. Looking forward to the year,” he had said.

The film became the target of a Twitter boycott trend. The boycott trend started after a section of the internet dug up bits of Aamir Khan’s 2015 interview where he said his ex-filmmaker wife Kiran Rao had suggested moving countries “due to growing intolerance”. ‘Lal Singh Chadha’ box office collection drops.

Aamir Khan also made a special appearance in Revathi’s Salaam Venky starring Kajol. He is also producing a film called Champions.
