Amitabh Bachchan celebrates India’s twin win at the 95th Academy Awards
Mumbai, Mar 14 (PTI) Megastar Amitabh Bachchan on Tuesday expressed his excitement over India’s double win at the 95th Academy Awards, where “RRR” song “Natu Nadu” and “The Elephant Whisperers” won the gold statue.
The 80-year-old actor, who is currently recovering from his injury, took to Twitter to share his happiness. Bachchan posted, “We win! Win in both! Let’s win for the country and the people! Let’s win!! Bharat ka janta kath diya, videsh mein (India has planted its flag, abroad)! Oscar 95,” Bachchan posted.
At the Academy Awards, Telugu chartbuster “Natu Nadu” composed by MM Keeravani and written by Chandra Bose won the original song award and SS Rajamouli’s “RRR” became the first Indian film to bring home an Oscar.
“RRR” (Rise Roar Revolt), a pre-independence fictional story, follows two real-life Indian revolutionaries in the 1920s, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Kumaram Bhim (Jr. NTR).
Netflix’s Tamil documentary “The Elephant Whisperers”, directed by debutant Karthiki Gonsalves and produced by Kuneeth Monga, also became the first Indian production to win in the documentary short category.
