Case Against Dancer Sapna Chaudhary, Family For Allegedly Demanding Dowry
Palwal (Haryana): A case has been registered against Haryanvi singer and dancer Sapna Chaudhary and her family for allegedly harassing a former Bigg Boss contestant’s sister-in-law for dowry.
Palwal police have registered a case against her brother Karan and mother Neelam under various sections including dowry abuse.
She filed a complaint at the women’s police station in Palwal against Sapna Chaudhary’s brother-in-law, the singer-dancer and her mother-in-law Neelam and husband Karan, for demanding a Creta car as dowry.
She has complained that her mother-in-law assaulted her, demanded dowry, harassed her and sexually abused her as her demands were not met.
The complainant married Sapna’s brother Karan in 2018, a resident of Najabgarh, Delhi.
In her complaint, Sapna’s sister-in-law alleged that her in-laws started demanding the car after the birth of her daughter as part of the ‘Chuchak’ ceremony. However, his father gave them ₹ 3 lakh in cash, some gold and silver jewelery and clothes.
She alleged that after receiving gifts from her family, her mother-in-law became unhappy and started abusing her again, demanding a car.
On May 6, 2020, she claimed that her husband (Karan) assaulted her while drunk and had unnatural sex with her.
She also said that six months ago, she returned to her father’s house in Palwal and filed a complaint against her in-laws, including Sapna Chaudhary, Karan and Neelam, at the women’s police station there, but no arrests have been made so far. .
“Investigation is going on. Deputy Superintendent of Police Satender is probing the entire matter. The accused will be arrested after the charges are registered,” said Susheela, in-charge of the women’s police station.
