‘Hayo Rabba’: When Shah Rukh Khan got down on one knee for Diljit Dosanjh, said ‘I love you from the core of my mind’
Diljit Dosanjh can sing, act and is one of the most recognizable Indian faces around the world, but if there’s one thing his fans love about him, it’s his humble attitude that shines through in his interviews and even his stage performances. A quality he shares with another global superstar, Shah Rukh Khan. So when Shahrukh told Diljit that he loved him, the Lover singer’s face lit up.
In 2015, Diljit, his own star at the time, interviewed the team of Dilwale and got a chance to sit across from Shah Rukh Khan and talk to him about his career and films. Shahrukh, being his charming self, thanked the singer for taking the time to sit down with him. He said in a PTC Punjabi interview, “Main apgi films tek sukha han, main apgah bahut bada fan han. Aur aap Jo acting karte ho, wo is very world class hai. Main aise hi aapke saamne nahi bol raha (I have seen your films and I am a big fan. Your acting is truly world class. I am not saying this because I am sitting in front of you).
Later in the interview, Shahrukh got down on one knee and held Diljit’s hand and said, “Diljit, I love you from the bottom of my heart.” Diljital couldn’t stop blushing and blurted out “Hayo Rabba”. SRK also admitted that he didn’t get a chance to interact with a superstar of Diljit’s stature, saying, “Humain bi pata come sans milda hai ais superstar se paat karne ka (We rarely get an opportunity to interact with a superstar).”
Since Diljit is a music composer, he shared the Hindi song ‘Howle Howle’ from Shah Rukh Khan’s film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Shah Rukh shared that he wanted to do one of Diljit’s most popular films, Jatt & Juliet, but now believes he is too old for it. He said, “Mere ko toh wo karni hai Jatt & Juliet. Meri Umar Baad Gayi Thodi Varna Main Karna Sa Raha Tha (I want to do Jatt & Juliet. I am old now or else I would like to do it)”
Shah Rukh Khan and Diljit Dosanjh have yet to work together in a film, but in 2017, Diljit lent his voice to Shah Rukh in Jab Harry Met Sejal’s ‘Raula’.
