Ind vs NZ ODI today:
In the first ODI (One Day) between India and New Zealand, Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill put on a 124-run opening partnership to get India’s innings off to a good start. Gill, who scored 50 off 65 balls, fell to Lockie Ferguson first. Dhawan (72 off 77 balls) got out without adding anything to the scoreboard. Finn Allen took a catch and Tim Southee took the wicket of the Indian skipper.
New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bowl first in the first ODI against India at Eden Park. After missing the third Twenty20 International on November 22 due to a scheduled medical visit, Williamson rejoins the New Zealand squad. India won the series 1-0.
India picked two newcomers in the youth ranks. Right-arm fast bowler Umran Malik and left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh will each play in their maiden ODIs. Tim Southee, Matt Henry, Adam Milne and Lockie Ferguson are the four seam bowlers selected by New Zealand. All-rounder Mitchell Santner offers a spin option.
With only one year remaining after the completion of the T20 World Cup, both the countries are looking forward to the ODI World Cup to be held in India.
“A year has passed and every match marks another opportunity to develop as a team,” Williamson said.
