Luv Ranjan reveals why he always has women as villains in his films
Mumbai, Jan. 23 (IANS) Director Luv Ranjan, who is awaiting the release of his upcoming theatrical rom-com, ”Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’, has finally broken his silence on why he always has a woman as the antagonist in his films.
Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor share the screen together as the lead pair for the first time, and this is Ranjan’s first film in five years after his last directorial venture ‘onu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’. Nushrat Bharucha plays the villain.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, the director said, “”Aur bhi filmmakers hain jo ‘ladki seedhi hai ladka chaalu hai’ ke space mein acchi films bana rahe hain (There are directors who make good films about a woman. Suffering and a man as a villain). As a filmmaker, I I want a certain novelty in my films and for my audience”.
He also said, “Film mein jab tak ek negative aur ek positive force na ho tab tak filmgoers ko engage nahi karegi. It is a purely creative decision to have a woman play a negative character in my films.”
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar which marks Ranbir’s return to the rom-com genre, also stars comedian Anubhav Singh Basi.
Produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg of Luv Films and presented by Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, the film is slated to hit theaters worldwide on Holi on March 8, 2023.
