Mamata Banerjee appeals for peace on Hanuman Jayanti
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday urged people to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti peacefully, saying “there is no trouble anywhere”.
His comments came against the backdrop of the state witnessing renewed clashes and vandalism in various districts during Ram Navami processions and ahead of the festival.
“Tomorrow is Hanuman Jayanti. I request everyone to celebrate peacefully. If you keep calm there will be no problem. Bengal is a land of peace,” Banerjee told reporters at this cheerful resort town in Purnba Medinipur district
“Religion is a personal choice, festivals are for everyone,” she said.
