Press release : Military Books Hangout organized to celebrate World Book Day
BOOKNERDS, the country’s best book club community, organized the Military Books Hangout to celebrate World Book Day. This session was organised in memory of Major Vibhuti Dhoundiyal who lost his life, fighting terrorists after the Pulwama terrorist attack. The event was organized at the resplendent setting of Sly Granny.
Rohan Raj, the co-founder of Booknerds, kicked off the event by introducing the lead discussants of the evening, Col.Ashish Moulik (Retd.), Col.Vivek Thapliyal(Retd.) and Deputy Commandant Avinash Aggarwal (Retd).
Colonel Ashish Moulik initiated the discussion on ‘Cartoos Sab’ by Major General Ian Cardozo, talking about the journey and challenges faced by the General and sharing some amazing anecdotes. The surprise of the evening came when Major General Ian Cardozo joined the book club meetup via video call and spoke about his experience of writing the book.
Colonel Vivek Thapliyal shed light on ‘Kitne Ghazi Aye Kitne Ghazi Gaye’ by Lt. Gen. KJS ‘Tiny’ Dhillon which chronicles A True Life Account of Bravery And Sacrifice of An Army Soldier Who Served India For More Than 40 Years.
Deputy Commandant Avinash Aggarwal talked the audience through ‘Kargil: From Surprise to Victory’ by General V.P. Malik which takes an incisive look into the battle between India and Pakistan in February of 1999.
The lead discussants provided a deep dive into the writing style of the books and into the psyche of a soldier and his/her family which was truly inspirational.
It was a vicarious experience for readers.
