Punjab: BSF shot down a Pakistani drone near Amritsar border
Border Security Force (BSF) personnel shot down a Pakistani drone that had intruded into Indian territory in Punjab’s Amritsar district early on Wednesday, a BSF spokesperson said.
The incident took place near Baba Bir Border Outpost (POP).
“Between the night of February 7 and 8, BSF personnel posted along the border in the Amritsar sector found that Baba Bir BOP’s AOR (Area of Responsibility) had crossed into Indian territory from Pakistan. Personnel opened fire on the rogue drone and used all counter-drone measures,” the spokesperson said.
As a result, the drone, which was returning to Pakistan, crossed the border and fell into the neighboring country’s territory, he added.
This is the third drone shot down by the BSF along the Punjab border this year.
Last year, BSF seized 22 drones used to smuggle drugs, arms, ammunition and explosives from across the border.
