‘Sukesh Chandrasekhar made my life hell’: Jacqueline Fernandez in Delhi court
Jacqueline Fernandez said it was later learned that Chandrasekhar was arrested for impersonating senior officials of the home and law ministries.
Accused Sukesh Chandrasekhar “played with my emotions and made my life hell,” Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez said in a statement in Delhi’s Patiala House court, media reports said.
Fernandes, in the statement, claimed that Chandrasekhar was the owner of Sun TV and that (late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister) J Jayalalithaa was his aunt.
“Chandrasekhar told me that he is a big fan and that I should do films in South India as well and as the owner of Sun TV, they have lined up several projects. I should try to work together in South Indian films… Sukesh misled me and destroyed my career and livelihood,” said Fernandes.
The actor said that it was only later that he came to know that Chandrasekhar was arrested for impersonating senior officials of the Home and Law Ministries and that he came to know his real name only after learning about his criminal background.
“Pinky Irani knew about Chandrasekhar’s activities and background, but he never informed me about this,” Fernandez said in the statement.
Delhi Police recently told Additional Sessions Judge Shailendra Malik that Irani introduced him to Fernandes and was instrumental in disposing of the ₹200 crore he had extorted.
The Delhi Police’s Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) made the allegations in a supplementary chargesheet filed before Malik.
Fernandez, who has not yet been charged in the case, also appeared in court. He is an accused in a money laundering investigation related to fraud.
Irani portrayed Chandrasekhar as a business tycoon and was instrumental in facilitating his meetings with some Bollywood personalities, the chargesheet said.
The new sub-report also said that the police have recorded the statements of several Bollywood actors, including Fernandes and Nora Fatehi.
Mumbai-based Irani was arrested in November 2022 by an EOW of Delhi Police.
Chandrasekhar, who is currently in jail, has been accused of defrauding several high-profile figures, including Aditi Singh, wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh.
