Priyanshu Goyal: I hail from the city of Gwalior, a historical and culturally rich city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. My father is a successful businessman, who has been running his own enterprise for several years now, while my mother is a loving and caring homemaker, who has devoted her life to nurturing our family with affection and warmth.

During my childhood, I vividly remember an incident that sparked my interest in writing. It was a day when my father showed me an article he had written, which was published in the local newspaper. As I read through his words, I was captivated by the way he had expressed his thoughts and ideas so eloquently, with a powerful message that resonated deeply with me.

That experience left a lasting impression on me, and inspired me to start writing something of my own. Since then, I have been exploring various forms of writing, from journaling and creative writing to blogging and content creation, with the hope of one day making a meaningful impact through my words.

Clever Fox Publishing: When and how did you start your writing journey?

Priyanshu Goyal: In the year 2016, a newfound passion for poetry began to take root in me. Specifically, I was drawn to the beauty and depth of Hindi couplets, inspired by the works of Rahat Indore and Waseem Barevli. Driven by a desire to share my own voice and connect with others through poetry, I took a bold step and performed at an Open Mic event. This experience opened up a whole new world for me, allowing me to immerse myself in the vibrant poetry community and learn from other talented artists.

As I continued to hone my skills and perform at various Open Mic events in my hometown, my confidence grew, and I began to experiment with different styles and themes in my writing. Eventually, I wrote my first major poetry piece, titled “Kaum mera Ishq”, which captured the essence of my love for the art form and received overwhelming appreciation from the audience. This success served as a powerful motivation for me to continue pursuing my passion for poetry and to share my unique perspective with the world.

Clever Fox Publishing: What is your book all about?

Priyanshu Goyal: “Waaqif” is a collection of poetry that I have written. The poetry in this collection seems to be deeply personal and reflective of my experiences which I had throughout their life.

The collection touches on a range of topics and themes, such as love, loss, growth, and self-discovery. Each poem may offer a unique perspective on the speaker’s experiences, and the collection as a whole may be an exploration of their personal journey.

In essence, “Waaqif” is a reflection of my thoughts and emotions, captured through the medium of poetry. It is a testament to the power of self-expression and the beauty that can be found in the human experience.

Priyanshu Goyal: From a young age, I knew that writing was my calling. It was a lifelong dream, a passion that burned deep within me. I would often find myself lost in thought, contemplating the words that would spill forth onto the page. As I grew older, my love for writing only intensified. I would jot down snippets of poetry and prose in my spare time, capturing the fleeting moments of inspiration as they came to me.

Over time, I began to realize that my writings were meant to be shared with others. I wanted to touch people’s hearts and souls with my words, to inspire them, to make them think and feel. And so, I made the decision to compile all of my poetries in a single book. I believed that this would be the best way to share my writings with the world, to connect with readers on a deeper level and to leave a lasting impact.

As I worked on my book, I poured my heart and soul into every page, carefully crafting each poem to convey the emotions and experiences that had shaped me as a writer and as a person. When the book was finally complete, I felt a sense of accomplishment that was indescribable. It was the culmination of a lifetime of dreaming and hard work, and I knew that I had found my purpose in life.

Clever Fox Publishing: How was your pre-writing experience? What urged you?

Priyanshu Goyal: Being disciplined towards reading was the only thing which kept me up in the writing. Through the journey there were many instances where I wasn’t able to write for weeks. But continuing to read novels and poetry helped me stay connected to literature.

Clever Fox Publishing: How was your writing experience? Smooth or bumpy?

Priyanshu Goyal: Writing can be a challenging path, particularly when you come from a family with a business background. Navigating the literary world can seem daunting when you don’t have connections or mentors in the industry, and it can be difficult to find the time and resources to pursue your passion while also meeting familial obligations. However, despite these obstacles, I have managed to persevere and pursue my love of writing. My unwavering belief in myself and my abilities has been a driving force that has kept me on the path towards my dreams.

Clever Fox Publishing: How much did your publishers contribute? Did they ease the process for you?

Priyanshu Goyal: “They were incredibly helpful throughout every stage of the publication process, providing valuable assistance and support along the way. They expressed their pride and admiration for my dedication to writing and the effort I put into crafting each page. Their encouragement and support have always been a source of motivation for me, and their happiness at seeing my book was a testament to our strong bond and shared love of literature.

Priyanshu Goyal: I like to give this credit to my mom and my sister, Shubhi Agrawal, for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout my journey. From my earliest days, my mom has been my rock, providing me with a solid foundation and helping me to develop the confidence and resilience I need to succeed. She has always been there for me, whether I needed a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on, and I am eternally grateful for her love and guidance.

Likewise, my sister Shubhi has been an incredible source of inspiration and motivation for me. She has pushed me to pursue my dreams and strive for excellence, always leading by example and demonstrating what it means to work hard and never give up. Whether through her words of encouragement or her actions, she has shown me the importance of perseverance and determination in achieving one’s goals.

Together, my mom and sister have been my biggest supporters, providing me with the love, guidance, and encouragement I needed to overcome obstacles and achieve my dreams. I owe them everything, and I am forever grateful for their unwavering support and belief in me.

Clever Fox Publishing: How is your book going to impact the readers?

Priyanshu Goyal: As a teenager, my life has been filled with ups and downs, highs and lows, and moments of both joy and sadness. However, through it all, one thing that has remained a constant source of comfort and inspiration for me is writing poetry. Whenever I put pen to paper and begin to pour out my thoughts and emotions, it’s like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and I’m able to see things in a new light.

My poetry is a reflection of my life experiences, and as such, it contains a wide range of emotions. Some of my poems are uplifting and hopeful, filled with messages of love, positivity, and self-acceptance. Others are more melancholy, exploring the darker corners of the human experience and delving into themes of loss, heartbreak, and loneliness.

Despite the range of emotions present in my poetry, I have no doubt that readers will be able to connect with the universal themes and feelings that I explore. Whether it’s the joy of falling in love, the pain of losing someone you care about, or the sense of longing that comes with adolescence, my poetry speaks to the human experience in a way that is both raw and relatable.

So yes, I believe that readers will go through a variety of feelings while reading my poetry — but I also hope that they will come away from it with a greater sense of understanding, compassion, and connection to the world around them.

Priyanshu Goyal: I see negative comments as a source of motivation rather than a reason to be discouraged. By using the criticism constructively, the writer can learn from their mistakes and improve their writing in the future. In essence, the negative comments become a catalyst for growth and self-improvement.

Priyanshu Goyal: In the seven-year journey of writing and I do acknowledge the significant contributions of many individuals who have helped them along the way. Despite the many sources of support and inspiration, two names in particular stand out as constants throughout this journey: Rahat Indori and Waseem Barevli. These two writers have had a profound impact on my writing, serving as a source of inspiration and motivation to continue pursuing their craft. Through their own works have demonstrated a mastery of the written word, using language to evoke powerful emotions, convey complex ideas, and explore the depths of the human experience. For Myself, these writers serve as a reminder of the immense power of language and the importance of using it to communicate ideas and emotions with clarity, depth, and passion.

Clever Fox Publishing: What are your upcoming writing ventures?

Priyanshu Goyal: Currently, I am setting my sights on publishing another book, and this time it will be a compilation of short stories. These stories will be characterized by a dark and sombre tone, and will draw inspiration from the rich mythological traditions of Greece, Norse, and India. My intention is to weave together tales that are imbued with mystery, suspense, and elements of the supernatural, all while exploring the complex, flawed, and intriguing characters that populate these mythologies. Through this work, I hope to offer readers a fresh perspective on these ancient tales, and to transport them to a world of magic, wonder, and darkness that will leave them captivated and spellbound.

Clever Fox Publishing: Any piece of advice for our aspiring writers?

Priyanshu Goyal: I can only suggest that in order to become a good writer, one should first strive to become an avid reader. The idea behind this statement is that reading frequently and widely can help aspiring writers to develop their skills in writing. By exposing themselves to a variety of writing styles, techniques, and genres, readers can learn to recognize effective writing and identify elements that make a piece of writing engaging and successful.

Reading can also help aspiring writers to expand their vocabulary and develop a better understanding of grammar, syntax, and sentence structure. Through reading, writers can gain inspiration for their own writing, discover new ways to express ideas, and learn how to create a strong voice and tone in their writing.
