Stockholm, May 15 (PTI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar interacted with the Indian community in Sweden and highlighted developments in India during his visit to bilateral talks and the European Union (EU) Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum (EIPMF) in Stockholm.
Jaishankar is on a three-day visit to Sweden to attend the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum (EIPMF).
“I am happy to interact with the Indian community in Sweden. On completion of 75 years of diplomatic relations, we briefed them on the progress made in bilateral relations,” Dr Jaishankar tweeted on Sunday evening.
“Sweden is a valued member of the European Union, a Nordic partner and a fellow multilateralist. He spoke about the changes taking place in India that will enhance our global profile and create opportunities for Indians abroad,” he said.
Earlier, the minister held wide-ranging discussions with his Swedish counterpart Tobias Billström here and exchanged views on the Indo-Pacific, European strategic situation and de-risking of the global economy.
Jaishankar’s visit to Sweden was his first as External Affairs Minister. The visit comes at a time when India and Sweden are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic ties.

“Globalization is the great reality of our time. However distant, regions and countries cannot infiltrate significant events elsewhere. Nor can we cherry-pick them at our convenience,” said Jaishankar.
“The Indo-Pacific is increasingly central to the direction of world politics… The more the EU and the Indo-Pacific deal with each other, the more polarization and the EU wants to remember a multipolar world. This is only possible with a multipolar Asia,” he said. .
From Sweden, EAM will travel to Brussels for the first meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council, where Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food and Public Distribution and Textiles Minister Piyush Goyal and Railways Minister will be present. , Communication, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav.
