Explosion At Jammu Petrol Pump After Short Circuit In Power Board
JAMMU: An explosion occurred at a petrol pump in Narwal area here on Monday due to an electrical leakage in the underground power board, officials said.
No one was injured in the incident, they said.
It is suspected that there may have been a power leak due to rainwater leaking into the underground power board.
The blast, which occurred around 10:50 am, damaged part of the floor of a petrol pump and a nearby structure that included the bank’s front office, they said.
Jammu East Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Zakir Abbas Jafri, said that according to preliminary investigation, the explosion was caused by a short circuit.
“The petrol pump owner told us that the explosion was due to a shot circuit. We saw that the electrical wiring was damaged,” he said.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jaffrey said experts have been called to inspect the spot.
Petrol station staff said there were no customers at the pump when the incident took place.
