Prime Minister Modi to attend swearing-in ceremony of BJP govt in Tripura on March 8
Agartala, Mar 4 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the inauguration of the new BJP-IPFD government in Tripura on March 8, a senior official said on Saturday.
In the recently concluded Tripura assembly elections, the BJP won 32 seats in the 60-member assembly and its ally IPFD one seat.
“Chief Secretary SK Sinha is holding discussions with senior officers regarding the Prime Minister’s state visit. The SPG team is also coming today. The Prime Minister is coming to participate in the inauguration of the new government on March 8,” a senior police officer told PTI.
Chief Minister Manik Saha submitted his government’s resignation letter to Governor Satyadev Naren Arya on Friday. He told reporters that the new government will be sworn in on March 8 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in it.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new government is taking place at the Vivekananda Maidan here.
“Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, the president of NEDA, is likely to arrive today. Also, senior party leaders and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states will be invited to witness the inauguration of the new government,” BJP state vice-president Repati Tripura said on Saturday.
BJP state in-charge Mahesh Sharma and election in-charge Mahendra Singh are also in the North Eastern state.
“The meeting of newly elected members of the party is not over yet,” BJP state spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee said.
