Sandeep Lamichhane was omitted as Nepal announced the squad for the Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series.
Former Nepal captain Sandeep Lamichhane , who is out on bail on rape charges, has reportedly been dropped from the national squad for the upcoming Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series. The series also features Papua New Guinea (PNG) and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to ESPNCricinfo, the cricketer’s bail conditions prevented him from traveling abroad.
Nepal will play their opening match against PNG in Dubai on Monday, February 27. It is currently sixth in the seven-team standings in the Cricket World Cup League 2 table. Lamichhane has taken 55 wickets in the tournament so far.

For those who don’t know, Sandeep Lamichhane was accused of raping the girl last year. He was arrested on charges of rape in September last year. He was taken into police custody after landing in Kathmandu in October following his participation in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The 22-year-old was released on bail on January 13 (99th day) by the Pathan High Court on the condition that he cannot leave the country till the verdict in the case.
A petition was filed in the Supreme Court against this bail.
According to ANI, he is being investigated under Section 219 of the Penal Code 2074. If the crime is against him, he will have to serve 10-12 years in prison.
The spinner was suspended by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) last year, but the ban was lifted on February 1.
Lamichhane recently took 13 wickets in four games in another Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series involving Scotland and Namibia. He took four wickets in the final, which met with protests. The Scots refused to shake hands with the bowler.
