The Animal Welfare Board of India withdrew its appeal to celebrate February 14 as ‘Cow Hugging Day’.
The Union Animal Welfare Board (AWBI) on Friday issued an order withdrawing the appeal to celebrate February 14 as “Cow Hug Day”.
The AWBI’s order said, “Appeal issued by Animal Welfare Board of India to celebrate cow weaning day on February 14, 2023 as per direction of competent authority and Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying”.
AWBI, which comes under the Ministry of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, on February 6 issued an unprecedented “appeal” to cow lovers to celebrate February 14 as “Cow Hug Day”. “Brings emotional well-being” and “increases personal and collective happiness”. Board officials told The Indian Express that the appeal has been filed against the order of the Union Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry.
According to reports, the appeal has been made on the instructions of the Animal Husbandry Minister.
