UP BJP Leader’s Car Blocks Ambulance, Killing Patient. He Threatens Family
Lucknow: In Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh, a BJP leader who was taken to the hospital in an ambulance died. The patient’s family members have alleged that BJP leader Umesh Mishra threatened dire consequences if confronted about his negligence.
The patient, Suresh Chandra, complained of chest pain on Saturday and was immediately referred to Lucknow Hospital. Umesh Mishra had just left the district hospital where the doctors said the patient had suffered a heart attack as Umesh Mishra parked his WagonR on the road and got out. The ambulance could not move for more than 30 minutes and Suresh Chandra died inside, throbbing in pain. The BJP leader returned later and started hurling expletives in a fit of rage when confronted.
In a video recorded by bystanders , Umesh Mishra, who claims to be the brother of BJP leader and constituency Block Chief Ramkinkar Pandey,, abused the deceased’s brother-in-law and threatened to implicate him in police cases. The District Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police acted on his instructions and he said he would “finish him”. A few police officers were present when Umesh Mishra got angry at the relatives of the deceased, but no one intervened. He then fled from there in a car.
The video has gone viral on social media and has drawn heavy criticism for the police’s inaction.
