World Sleep Day 2023: When It Started, Significance and Theme

World Sleep Day will be celebrated on Friday, March 17. It is observed annually on the third Friday of March before the vernal equinox to raise awareness about the importance of getting enough sleep and to educate the world about different types of sleep. Related issues.

In 2008, World Sleep Day was started by the World Sleep Day Committee, a branch of the Global Sleep Society, which started the day to spread awareness about the value of good sleep and address various sleep-related concerns. The theme of World Sleep Day 2023 is “Sleep is essential for good health”.

Lifestyles worldwide have become increasingly hectic due to long working hours and high travel times. Therefore, to ensure consistency in performance, the importance of good sleep has risen over the past few years, enhancing the importance of initiatives such as World Sleep Day.

“Our patients and people of all ages around the world can improve their overall health and well-being by making sleep a priority and adopting strategies to improve sleep and circadian health. The more evidence-supporting knowledge about sleep and circadian health can be shared by our members, event organizers and the media, the better.” ” said Phyllis C., president of the World Sleep Association. Gee said on the World Sleep Day website.

 

“People need to think of sleep like other important health behaviors like exercise – when reflected upon and appropriate, improving can help one feel better and stay healthier over time,” says Lourdes Delroso, co-president of Global Sleep. The day is 2023, he said.

World Sleep Day enables medical professionals and experts to speak out, share knowledge and encourage the global community to adopt good sleep habits.

Poor sleeping habits can lead to disorders such as insomnia, dizziness, sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome.
