Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has filed a case against Anshika and her father, alleging blackmail and conspiracy. In a First Information Report (FIR) filed in February, Amrutha alleged that Anshika had tried to bribe her with ₹1 crore directly to claim her father’s name, claiming to design clothes, jewelery and shoes. Amrutha said the woman first met her in November 2021 and told her that she had lost her mother and that ‘the whole family was dependent on her’. The woman said she was a designer of clothes, jewelery and footwear.
“She asked me to wear her designs at public events and this would help promote her clothes, jewelery and footwear. I sympathized… and said OK,” he added.
The police registered a case against Anshika and her father under Section 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 8 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
A senior police officer said that they are looking for them.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the assembly that this is a political conspiracy to implicate his family members. He added that there may be interference from some political leaders.
